Finally finished! The color is a bit off b/c I'm using artificial studio light but I couldn't wait to share!
The horrible dolphin drive season in Taiji, Japan, is over but our fight to end such barbaric practices is not. Please: Do not support dolphin amusement parks or cetacean captivity or any swim-with/feed-the-dolphin programs. These are highly intelligent, self-aware creatures that thrive within a family pod.
I'm a mother that took her son to see dolphins at zoos and aquariums, but after doing more research, I have made a full-circle, conscious decision to never go back :(. This is my personal journey. I respect other people's choices--I really do! But my art is integrated with the way I feel and what I believe in: freedom, beauty, wonder & compassion.
The Short-beaked Common Dolphin (the ones I painted here) is one of my favorite dolphin species AND equally the hardest little buggers to paint. But I did it.

I love common dolphins too because they are cute and adorable and I would love to see them one day
